Vamos todos para Itália!!! (Vito, Karen, Bonfim, Pablo e Paçoca)
Nosso projeto de mudar para a Itália começou em 2018 quando conversávamos sobre alguns anseios que temos e de como tudo isso poderia ser sincronizado com nossa vida conjunta. O Vito (@vitolorenzoni) é saxofonista, e até o momento estava estudando na Universidade Estadual de Santa Catarina. O curso por lá é excelente mas ele tem vontade de se aprofundar mais no seu instrumento. Começamos a ver as possibilidades no Brasil, mas notamos que seria difícil unir este interesse à profissão e aos estudos da Karen (@petsitterkarenmartins), que é terapeuta comportamental de animais de estimação e também tem vontade de se aprofundar nesta área - ainda não muito difundida nas universidades brasileiras. Começamos então a checar outras possibilidades e nos interessamos bastante por Portugal, que tem recebido muitos brasileiros. Achamos boas alternativas por lá mas nenhuma que nos desse a possibilidade de morar por tempo indeterminado e com documentação apropriada para trabalhar e estudar. Assim, vimos a possibilidade de buscar a cidadania do Vito, que é descendente de italianos. Com incentivo de família e amigos as coisas começaram a andar. O Vito juntou toda a documentação e neste momento está na cidade de Cremona, Itália, encaminhando a cidadania.
A Itália é muito rica e movimentada culturalmente: muitos concertos, shows, festivais, feiras e exposições acontecendo o tempo todo. Isto sempre nos atraiu muito. Outra descoberta é a qualidade de vida que se tem por lá, com acesso facilitado a toda essa cultura, alimentação de qualidade a preços não abusivos e transporte público de extrema qualidade. Além disso, vimos que será mais fluido encaminhar a documentação da Karen na Itália também. Assim, deixamos Portugal para conhecer num futuro próximo, e de início ficaremos pela Itália - possivelmente na região da Lombardia. Agora estamos na segunda fase desse grande projeto de vida, que inclui a nossa família pet. O Bonfim já veio lá da Bahia com a Karen (nos conhecemos lá quando ela estava terminando o mestrado em Ilhéus e o Vito estava em turnê com a Banda Cultivo). O Pablo e o Paçoca adotamos em Floripa. Eles estão com a gente em todos os momentos importantes e - é claro - não ficariam de fora nessa nossa jornada. Assim estamos angariando esses custos que são altos, somados a tudo que estamos investindo.

About the campaign
We are Vito and Karen, and this year we are moving to Italy in search of a better life with our pet family: our cats Bonfim and Pablo and our dog Paçoca. We are investing all of our resources in this endeavor that will take us to new horizons of work, study and learning and in order to fully realize our dream we need your help to bring our pets along in a safe and adequate way according to all current regulations. The Story Behind our Decision to Move
Our project to move to Italy began in 2018 when we sat down to talk about our future and shared with each other our dreams, ambitions as well as some of our frustrations in face of the economic crisis Brazil has been facing for the past couple of years and discussed how we could pursue our very different interests and mantain our life together.
Vito is a saxophonist, and up to this point he was working exclusively as a musician while pursuing a degree in music at the State University of Santa Catarina. Although the course was excellent, he felt like he needed to be in a place that would allow him to delve deeper into his instrument.
Karen, on the other hand, is a pet sitter and a behavioral therapist for pets interested in specializing in Feline Behavior. Because her field of work and study is not yet widespread in Brazilian universities we were left with very few options that did not match Vito’s career plans, and that is when we began to consider going abroad.
Why Italy?
At first, we were very interested in Portugal, a country that shares the same language and frequently welcomes many Brazilians, but despite the fact that we found good study alternatives, none of the available options gave us the possibility to become permanent residents with proper documentation to work and study. That’s when Italy came into the picture.
Vito is descendant of Italians and so we decided to go after his Italian citizenship in order to bring our goal to fruition. With the encouragement and support of family and friends, Vito has gathered all the documentation needed and travelled to the city of Cremona, Italy, where he is currently living and pushing his citizenship process further.
Having this experience in Italy gave us a whole new perspective and a better understanding of the existing opportunities for both of us. Besides, Vito shares how great it is to experience the quality of life that comes with having easy access to many cultural events like concerts, festivals, fairs and exhibitions, to quality food at affordable prices and efficient public services, all this very different from the reality we were facing in Brazil.
For all those reasons, our plan now is to live in Italy - possibly in the region of Lombardy - and work towards getting Karen’s Italian citizenship.
Bringing our Pet Family Along
Now we are getting ready for the next phase of this great life project, which includes bringing Karen and our pet family to Italy. Bonfim, Pablo, and Paçoca have been with us through many changes – moving from Bahia to Florianopolis and, while in Florianopolis, moving from one house to the next – and of course, would not be left out of this new journey.
Moving to another country with pets and following all regulations is a costly endeavor, specially when combined with all the other costs we’re currently covering (travel insurance, airline tickets, rent in Italy and Brazil, life cost in Italy and Brazil, Visa fees, etc), that’s why we are asking for your help to keep our family together while we seek our dreams.
