Children's Day Raffle!

In honor of Children’s Day on October 12th, the Lightsource bp Americas team is raising funds to provide soccer/football, volleyball and playground equipment to four schools in the Milagres Solar project region. 

The project is located in the Brazilian state of Ceará, where in 2022, more than 3.4 million people were living under extreme poverty. The same is true for the communities near the project, with almost 50% of the population of Abaiara and more than 57% of the people in Milagres living on less than R$100 ($50) per month.

 We are inviting our employees in Brazil and the United States to participate by purchasing raffle tickets for a chance to win one of four colorful wooden carvings by renowned Brazilian artist Francisco Graciano.

Graciano is a native of the Brazilian state of Ceará, where the project is currently under construction. He recently visited students and workers in the project region to share his art and story with local communities. These events were part of Lightsource bp’s Social Environmental Management plan for the project, reinforcing our commitment to valuing local communities, their culture and traditions.

The Children’s Day holiday marks the celebration day of Brazil’s patron saint, Nossa Senhora Aparecida, as well as the anniversary of the South American Children’s Congress of October 12, 1923 in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

To enter, please contribute BRL$25 (c. US$5) for two "tickets". Each additional BRL$25 will buy two more raffle tickets, but each employee can only win one carving even if your name is drawn again.  Winners will be drawn in a virtual employee event on October 5th—check your calendars for an invite!
